Happy Monday to you. This week we are celebrating Week of the Young Child. What does that mean? It's educational, yet a cool fun way to celebrate the learning styles and creativity within each child.
Each day we're focusing on a topic. For example, Monday is Music Monday and today we made Maracas also known as Music Shakers. The kiddos here at Rainbow Children's Station love music and they love to dance. We have found with our students that for music. it's the method of their learning. It's within the music that children are able to learn about rhythm, beats, clapping, socialization, movement, and much more. For example Do, Re, Me. We took the time to teach the children Do, Re, Me, Fa, So, La, Te, Do. When you know the notes to sing, you can sing most anything.
Music is the sound of language and communication. It's with music that self-expression can be explored. Children are aware of things happening within their own community but what would happen if you introduced different styles/genres of music to them? For example jazz, orchestra, smooth jazz, techno, and more.
Children are more musically aware than you think. How do you know? Put on any song and sing what happens. A few things could happen, fingers will start snapping, clapping. Most definitely will a head start bobbing and so much more.
Happy Music Monday.
